Day-by-Day

Your Itinerary

A rough guide to each day, timings flex a little with river and weather conditions.

Day 1- Los Guatuzos Wildlife Refuge

Our adventure starts with an early 5:00am pickup as we head towards Colón, stopping for breakfast along the way. From there, we'll board a boat to the Los Guatuzos Wildlife Refuge, where a scenic journey through the wetlands awaits. After a delicious local lunch, we'll explore more of the reserve on foot, searching for monkeys, caimans, colourful birds and other wildlife. As the sun sets, we'll enjoy dinner and unwind at our lodge, surrounded by the incredible sights and sounds of nature.

Day 2 - The Solentiname Islands

After breakfast, we'll spend a little more time exploring Los Guatuzos before boarding the boat to the Solentiname Islands. Following a delicious local lunch, we'll learn about the life and legacy of Ernesto Cardenal, the poet, priest and artist who helped shape the islands' unique identity. As the day comes to an end, we'll head onto the lake for a beautiful sunset boat tour before enjoying a home-cooked dinner with our local hosts.

Day 3 - Culture and History

We start the day slowly with a delicious breakfast and beautiful views over Lake Nicaragua. Afterwards, we'll join a traditional balsa wood handicraft workshop, where you'll create your own unique souvenir with the help of local artisans. After one last home-cooked lunch, we'll board the boat back to Colón, where our driver will be waiting to take us back to Granada or Managua, bringing three unforgettable days on the Solentiname Islands and Los Guatuzos to an end.

Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt, alle waren super freundlich und zuvorkommend. Wir haben tolle Touren gebucht und auch hier wurde auf jeden Wunsch eingegangen. Das Frühstück war super und auch zum Verweilen lädt das Café ein. Der Oreo Cheesecake war hammer! Sehr gutes Preis-Leistungsverhältnis unserer Meinung nach. We stayed 4 nights in Casa Mundo Verde and Leonel & Margreet completely transformed our experience of Leon simply by being so nice and so helpful. They organize cooking classes with traditional Nicaraguan food, walking tours and other activities. They work together with other tours so they were able to arrange anything we asked for. We were lucky to be in town during the traditional feast of Gritaria Chica, and Leonel instantly created a walking tour to allow the guests to experience the feast like a local. We had a lot of fun getting to know the tradition and collecting candies. If you are lucky enough to have half our experience in here, you're in for a great time. Oh, and they run in place a nice coffee shop, with very good local coffee and delicious cakes. Our room was also very nice, it was large, very clean and very comfortable beds. This is a very new place, it opened just a month ago, but I believe it will be one of the most popular in a short time.

Where does the 3 Days Solentiname & Los Guatuzos Tour start?
