The Masaya volcano sunset tour takes you to one of Nicaragua’s most famous natural attractions. Located inside Masaya Volcano National Park, this active volcano has been erupting for thousands of years and has long fascinated both locals and visitors. The indigenous people once believed the glowing crater was the entrance to the underworld, while Spanish conquistadors famously placed a large cross on the crater’s edge to “protect” the area from evil spirits.
We arrive in time to enjoy the beautiful sunset over the volcanic landscape before making our way to the crater viewpoint. As daylight fades, the surrounding scenery changes completely, creating the perfect setting to experience one of Nicaragua’s most remarkable volcanoes.
The highlight of the Masaya volcano sunset tour begins once the sun has disappeared below the horizon. As darkness falls, the glowing lava inside Santiago Crater becomes visible, offering a spectacular view into the heart of one of Central America’s most active volcanoes. Watching the lava bubble and glow while volcanic gases rise from below is an unforgettable experience and one of the few places in the world where you can safely witness an active lava lake from the crater’s edge.
Throughout the tour, your local guide will share the history, geology and legends of Masaya Volcano while explaining how this powerful volcano continues to shape the surrounding landscape. Whether you’re passionate about volcanoes, photography, or simply looking for a unique experience near Granada, the Masaya volcano sunset tour is an unforgettable way to end the day in Nicaragua.

I assume the rooms are very good, as is their service, coffee and help with tours and anything you would like to do in and around León and further beyond. The place is run by local guide Leo and Dutch Margarita. Highly recommended to enquire after the guided tours of León. Also the best coffee in town. And smoothies.Posted on Google![]()

Posted on Google![]()

We stayed 4 nights in Casa Mundo Verde and Leonel & Margreet completely transformed our experience of Leon simply by being so nice and so helpful. They organize cooking classes with traditional Nicaraguan food, walking tours and other activities. They work together with other tours so they were able to arrange anything we asked for. We were lucky to be in town during the traditional feast of Gritaria Chica, and Leonel instantly created a walking tour to allow the guests to experience the feast like a local. We had a lot of fun getting to know the tradition and collecting candies. If you are lucky enough to have half our experience in here, you're in for a great time. Oh, and they run in place a nice coffee shop, with very good local coffee and delicious cakes. Our room was also very nice, it was large, very clean and very comfortable beds. This is a very new place, it opened just a month ago, but I believe it will be one of the most popular in a short time.Posted on Google![]()
